My furnace broke early Saturday morning. I was recommended Border plumbing and heating by my neighbour. First thing on Monday morning I called the office, the response was fast. In no time, Jeff came to diagnose the problem. He was personable and did a fast diagnostic assessment. Needing a new furnace. October 26, 2022 Border’s friendly, professional service is very much appreciated by these seniors. Jeff C. was accompanied by Aaryn R. whom he was training in furnace maintenance. We knew Aaryn from a few weeks previously when she carried out the servicing on our air conditioner very efficiently. Jeff explained the process to us thoroughly and resolved a minor issue with the humidifier as part of the service. As well, he recommended a new igniter as the current one had become corroded. From the very first phone call the service has been super friendly and knowledgeable. I called having had no hot water for two days and in desperate need of a shower and was happily surprised that the technician would be here within the hour. Unfortunately it was most cost effective to replace the hot water tank but again I was happily surprised to be told it would be installed the next morning, and although this is probably not related to the actual service, that was one of the best showers of my life. Lyle, the technician was really friendly, explained the problem and our options. We have tried different plumbing/HVAC companies in the past and usually left slightly disappointed and that did not happen with Lyle and Border. I will definitely be calling Border the next time we have an issue.

Our furnace died (on a Sunday) and I called the emergency number. I was SO happy with the prompt response from Border Plumbing and Heating. Someone was here first thing yesterday to assess the problem and this morning, Dayton Bailey and Ryan Storozak arrived bright and early and replaced our furnace. He came to work on a plumbing project, first planned by another plumber at Border, and he was able to quickly figure out the scope, parts required, made a couple of improvements to the design and completed it within the timeframe allotted. We've been using Border since we began renovating our home back in December 2020 and have been very impressed with the customer service and professionalism. Yahoo! Woke up this morning to snow and no heat 15C inside. Put in a call at approx. 7:30 a.m. spoke with Donna, she's amazing, and she put in a call to Owen. In way less than an hour Owen was smiling and at my door. Owen immediately performed diagnostics and identified the problem; furnace was not reading the thermostat. The thermostat had been dislodged and was not connecting with the furnace. Owen is a true professional, experienced and will come into your home with your best interest in mind. Yesterday , Border Heating technicians, Dayton and Ryan replaced my furnace. Customer service is excellent. As we had been warned on Dec 30th, relighting the pilot light was probably not going to be a successful fix to the hot water tank. We discovered this at 4:50 pm so we called Border again and Mike was very helpful and said he would have Paul at our house in the morning. Paul came on New Year's Eve and replaced our hot water tank. He was very thorough, efficient and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with him. We appreciated the service received and how quickly things got done and while no one likes to spend money replacing a hot water tank, Border made it easier.

I called Mike at 4pm on New Year’s Eve as my hot water tank had failed and he was able to get me a quote and get a new tank install organized by Paul for 10am on New Years Day! Colin came and gave us a quote which we felt reasonable to replace all the Poly B pipes in our 4200 sq ft house. The next day he and his team (Tyler & Paul) arrived on time, were efficient and neat and in our opinion did an excellent job during the three days they were in our home. I recommend Border for their knowledge and speed of application. They saved my little home. I live in my mobile and when a pipe in the bathroom 'sprung' I turned off the valve under the sink but this did not stop the water which was getting worse, my son crawled underneath to find a shut off valve to the mains but there is no such valve under my home ! Border came and could not find such valve...the water was getting much worse. My brother brought me a wet/dry cleaner and this was filling in minutes ..to be emptied and let refill for hours. Used all the towels sheets clothing etc to soak up the constant water. Border finally contacted our site agent and a neighbor helped me locate the main shut off in the front garden...at last Border shut off the water !! Wheee ! They came the next day and replaced the split piping and installed an easy to reach shut off by my hot water tank. They were cheerful and helpful throughout...I think the plumbers name was Lyle...but my hearing is dodgy, but I hope he sees this and knows that this 'mature' lady blesses him daily ! We had a great experience with Border. The initial quote from Jeff was highly competitive on price and it was obvious to us that he had many years of industry experience, which gave us the peace of mind that the job would be done as discussed. Dayton and Ryan also provided us great quality service during the install. Not only was the job done exactly as expected, but by taking some extra time and care to plan out the thermostat move they saved us hours of drywall repair. After a full month we can say we are very happy with the quiet and consistent operation of the new two stage Bryant furnace, and are already seeing savings over our previous single stage unit. We look forward to using Border again for future HVAC service.

On November 18 Julius and his assistant Warren came to install our new furnace. I was pleasantly surprised when they showed up, on tine, with booties and masks in place. Our furnace room is tiny and crowded and these two men worked tirelessly for 8 hours with never a complaint. Their manner was professional but friendly, stopping anytime to answer a question for me and explain things. They even took care of a water issue while they were here working on the furnace!Their prices are competitive and our new furnace is not only much more efficient than our last one, it is so quiet! They have a number of staff and were able to rearrange some things so that we could get same day service to repair a leak. At the time of booking there were questions about COVID and I was asked if I would prefer for the worker to wear a mask. This made me happy. Colin was very friendly and professional. He explained what was broken and how to avoid this problem in the future. Efficient work. Will call again next time we need a plumber :). I can't speak to the price as we haven't needed a plumber in Kelowna or had this type of repair done in the past, but I will say this: never choose the cheapest you find because good workers deserve good pay and you get what you pay for.

They explained everything they were doing before they did it and asked if we had any questions (asked a number of times throughout the install, which I appreciated). Klaus G*******, a plumber with 30 years experience (assisted by Paul, a trainee) from Border Plumbing, Heating & Electrical, did one terrific plumbing job at my home yesterday. A person can tell when a technician puts some thought into their work. I first had Klaus to my home for a short meeting so we could go over a variety of plumbing issues I wanted addressed. I asked a lot of questions, and received understandable answers. Klaus listened attentively, asked questions, and described various solutions and options which made it easy for me to decide on what alternatives to go with. By explaining what and how he could address my concerns beforehand, I knew he understood what I meant, and how he’d proceed. So I felt quite confident when the work day arrived to know that the fix to all my plumbing issues was do-able after all. What I wanted done was the water main shutoff valve and the PRV moved, a water softener system installed, and a separate water line for outdoor irrigation to be installed – so it would no longer feed off the same water pipes that supplied the household. My indoor plumbing had an existing sediment filter which had been installed at ceiling level and hung unsupported from the water pipe. In order to change the filter, I had to climb up and balance on the top of my washing machine. I wanted it moved so I could access it. Klaus described how and where it could go. So he installed new pipe lengths to accommodate the changes, installed a new sediment canister, and a carbon filter canister. No more climbing ladders for me – now both canisters rest on a steel bracket securely mounted to the cement wall within easy reach. Also at arms reach and clearly labelled, are all the valves for the new filtration system and the new irrigation line. Those kinds of details and the solid workmanship and thought that went into the design are very important to me. Klaus also installed an expansion tank for my hot water tank and installed the tanks for the new water filtration system (along with all the apparatus for these systems; hoses, pressure gauge, drain line, etc). Before leaving, he went over everything with me, explained the pressure gauges and how they worked and what their purpose was, and gave me plenty of time to ask last minute questions. Border Plumbing continues to be my go-to for plumbing and heating – their electrical department is relatively new and I haven’t used that service yet. I have been a Border Plumbing customer since 2008 when I had my new natural gas furnace and heat pump/air conditioner installed. In my opinion, they are a reputable company, stand by their work, and have treated me fairly over the years. Klaus, I'd have given you more stars, but 5 was the max :) - thanks for all your help yesterday.

Maintenance done by Stephen Pashmore today and he was very helpful and explained systems on the heat pump to me. He is very knowledgeable and checked everything inside and outside and found no problems. I used Border Plumbing last spring to look at what ended up being a thermostat issue. They were amazing to deal with so when I decided to get a new furnace they were the obvious choice. They came quickly provided different options at different price ranges and were true to their word on what it would cost. Jeff Coles was the technician who helped with deciding what furnace would work best and preparing me for the installation date. A few month later I was having issues and Jeff Coles happened to be the one who came back and noticed I wasn't using my new thermostat to the potential I could be and set it up to better suit my needs and explained everything without making me feel rushed or silly. He is always friendly, smiley, and great to deal with. I was impressed with the work performed by Jeff on my dryer vent. My initial concern was the termination port. Jeff identified a problem with the screws in the rigid metal ducting connections which required replacement of the metal ducting. Jeff also adapted a cover for the hole in the ceiling.

Border came through for us after another well known company in town snubbed us. They were here with in 10 mins. Klaus was great, fixed our problem and had some good suggestions for after care. Would recommend using them in a heart beat!

Today we had Mike Crandell to our home to install a tankless water heater. He arrived on time and was most polite and very professional. On Saturday , November 11th 2019 I discovered both of my toilets gurgling. When I flushed the en-suite toilet the water came up to the top of the bowl. Paul Leader arrived at 4:00 and worked tirelessly until 8:45 to unplug the blockage. Seemed to be blocked. This morning we enjoyed excellent service from three departments of Border Plumbing, Heating and Electrical: Kristina (first line of defence), Matt (or Mike) (on dispatch) and then Owen (in the field). All three were exceptionally friendly and helpful, not to mention incredibly speedy in their response to our failed furnace. In addition, they displayed extreme patience and understanding when we realised that it was our error, not a malfunction and their trip was unnecessary.

Great service, nice people. Had a "On Demand" water heater failure on Saturday. By Monday at Noon a new one had been installed and is working beautifully.

Collin replaced our hot water heater this morning. He was a very talented plumber and worked systematically on unhooking our old hot water heater and connecting our new one. Then he showed me how to operate the new water heater. He was very thorough in what he did and had a pleasant personality. I really appreciated his service.

Colin G. arrived on time and didn't quit working until everything was done. He respected our floor and carpeting in removing the old hot water tank and installing the new, and made the effort to fully explain his plans to complete the job. He was most pleasant and polite during the entire process and he left us feeling very happy with the work he did in replacing the hot water tank.

Jeff Coles is a great caring honest technician! Just lately we were having an issue with some water leaking out the bottom of our furnace. Called Border and they immediately sent out a technician, Jeff Coles. He fixed the problem and in addition, he did a service on our air conditioner (which was an older unit). He thoroughly explained to my wife what was causing the issue, what he did to fix it and what he would recommend going forward. In addition, he called me at my office and explained everything to me as well. As it turned out we had just installed a new furnace (from Border) eight months earlier. Jeff explained in the initial set up of the furnace, there was one thing that should have been adjusted in the initial set up and it wasn't. He made the proper adjustments and fixed the problem immediately. The thing that impressed me the most was that he not only fixed the problem, but he explained why we were having the issue (in detail). Took full responsibility in the fact, this should have been done at installation and a result there would not be any charge for the service call. If Jeff had not explained all this I would not have known. I felt Jeff went over and above in terms of customer service to resolve our issue. He is a very caring, meticulous technician who knows his stuff! I would also add...we have been extremely pleased with the customer service we've received from Border Plumbing with the purchase of our furnace and the follow up service. He took the time to thoroughly explain what had happened to our furnace motor and Why and how to avoid it in the future. We were very pleased with Border Plumbing and with Colin G. We noticed a leak from our kitchen tap and called for assistance. We were offered a same day appointment but our schedule did not work out and, instead Colin came first thing the next morning. He brought the appropriate cartridge but the tap itself was in poor condition necessitating a decision on whether to replace it completely with one Border could supply or one of our own choosing. Colin was able to quote the prices for the various options immediately. He had to head back to the warehouse to get the one they supplied and replaced the old one immediately. Dustin P. came to service our furnace. He came promptly at the expected time. He was thorough, careful and polite. He explained the system health report in detail. He wore over-boot protectors to prevent soiling our floors, and asked before using our bathroom, (didn't just use it). He explained that we had filters that no longer fitted, since they were for our previous furnace, and sold us the correct one which he had on his van and then installed it for us. We were pleased to do business with him.

When my furnace quit running late on a Thursday afternoon, I called Border because I had seen them servicing other homes in the park. There was no hesitation regarding time, they arranged for an emergency call immediately. During the call all my questions were answered, my options explained and there was no pressure to make an immediate decision, As well, they offered electric heaters to provide heat during the cold winter night. I have found both Chad and Richard to be top-notch service providers, knowledgeable, polite and very efficient. From putting down drop cloths, taking out the old furnace/air conditioner and installation of the new units right down to vacuuming the area afterwards they were amazing. A huge thank you to both of them and kudos to Border for hiring such excellent repairmen!! I will use the company from now on and I highly recommend both the company and the repairmen for their superb service.

Chad and Richard just left after doing an amazing job replacing the furnace and the air conditioning coils. Both were extremely professional, and did an incredibly neat job. What a huge difference from the previous installation! Chad made sure I knew how to use the device to control the units, and programmed it for us. Furnace is working wonderfully - we'll have to wait for some warm weather to use the air conditioning. However, they verified everything working before they left, so I'm confident we won't have any issues. Thanks very much to both, it was a long day for them, but their work was much appreciated!

Great service right from the first call. Advertised as a 24/7 company and when I called after hours, Mike answered and we discussed my furnace issue and Mike discussed some of my options and we made a plan together on how to move forward. He was calm and patient and informing. He said Jeff would be at the house at 8am. I arrived at my house at 8:15am and Jeff was in the driveway waiting! He looked at the furnace and identified the issue and, again, we discussed a few options on how to fix the problem. He sat down while explaining and was very thorough, calm and patient. Once I agreed on the option, we used a very slick piece of technology to make the part order and sign off and make payment. All very efficient yet relaxing. Both Mike and Jeff were great. Efficient; kept me informed as to status of installing a new furnace.

Justin Lund, service specialist for Border was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. An aging furnace, he has given us some realistic choices some whereby we may save on our utility costs. Great guy, Border is a very good company.

This is a fabulous company to deal with. From the phone conversations, to the initial meeting with Owen and Julius, then the installation by Chad and Paul everything was handled professionally. In each step, the people we dealt with were friendly and explained everything to us. Chad and Paul spent an entire day (and I mean 10 plus hours) working to install our furnace and piping in an extremely difficult and time consuming old house. They were the best. I would highly recommend this company.

I totally recommend this company! Everyone , from start to finish, was prompt, knowledgeable patient, and very respectful. We were without heat ( winter time -Jan) and they could not come right away to put in a new furnace ( but did within a scheduled date within 48 hrs), but did come right away and provide electric heaters put place throughout our home ( free of charge) to keep us warm and comfortable. They explained everything what they were doing and how to use it ( program thermostat because we didn't want to do that right away otherwise they would have done it for us , change filter etc.)We even called on a Sunday and they were ready to help us out right away. We did call other companies and did not receive the same help at all -some we had to leave messages that they did not return until the afternoon the next day, even tho we said we were without heatIf you want quick answers, prompt service, call this company!! Border is a great company to deal with, our annual inspection was done by Aaron S**** who is very friendly and knowledgeable but really every person we have dealt with from the owner down including the office staff, sales (Jeff C****) and installers (Dustin & Julius) have been equally good to deal with. I recommend this company.

Very happy with the service we received from Shawn at Border. Our hot water tank said its final farewell on the morning of Christmas Eve. We called and they had a technician out within an hour to diagnose the issue. They prevented any real damage from happening by shutting off the hot water line. They provided a quote and were able to install a new hot water tank the next business day. Shawn was able to answer all my questions. Thanks for the Christmas miracle of hot water!

MATHEW was a excellent tech . he done great work and was very friendly and answered all .our questions with great knowledge. he would be highly recommended .

During our annual service to the furnace the first service person could not reliably restart the furnace. The solution was somewhat beyond his expertise so he called in their experience technician, Jeff C****. Jeff at first found a problem with the 4 burners. Then he found a problem with the initial installation of the exhaust pipe to the outside terminal. He put us on an urgent service schedule and found time to return two days later. Luckily we had a heat pump as backup and the outside weather was not cold enough to restrict its function. Jeff returned within two days and resolved all of the issues and our furnace now functions effectively. This also included the replacement of two pressure valves that had flooded as a result of the poor original installation. Throughout this process I was frequently kept up to date about the progress of the repair. He also checked the power board and wall mounted control system and found no problem with either. Excellent work.

We just had a new furnace and water tank installed and are very happy with the result. Jeff, Chad and Julius were very friendly and helpful and answered all our questions. Border was a great experience from estimate by Jeff (who arrived bang on time as booked) to a call confirming our install 11 days later. Chad & Julius arrived early on install day, friendly introductions & explanation of the process, laid down a mat from front door to basement and put in a long 11 hour day. ( part of the job involved decommissioning a geothermal system) A quick tutorial on our new programmable thermostat included !They left the work site clean & tidy, and didn't leave until the system was up & running. Piping, venting & duct work all looked very professional, & solid. We will be seeing you again when our hot water tank is replaced with a gas fired unit. Strongly recommend this company ( and Chad & Julius) for their product & service.

With Winter just ahead of us, I inquired from a neighbour who they had check their furnace and heat pump this fall. They kindly brought me a card from Border Plumbing, Heating and Electrical. I was very impressed as soon as I telephoned their office. A very pleasant person answered the phone and set up an appointment time within two days of my call. Justin Lund was the Service Technician who came to my home today at precisely the time that my appointment was scheduled. He was so very pleasant, professional and he quickly went to work checking my gas furnace and my heat pump. He explained that my furnace had not been installed correctly as he wasn’t able to access the venting to clean it out so he cut a pipe that allowed him to access the area previously blocked to clean it out properly. Then he repaired the pipe so at the next service appointment there will be an easy access to properly clean this area. Once Justin was through servicing the furnace and the heat pump he sat down with me to go over his very detailed report on his findings. He gave me his recommendations as to which parts in my furnace showed wear and that would soon need to be replaced. His communication was supported by the photos he showed me which he took took of the working parts that will soon need attention. He further discussed all the benefits of a year long “Energy Saving Tune Up and Professional Cleaning Agreement” and its cost saving benefits, which I quickly purchased. We had signed up for an inspection of our furnace. Our home is only 4 years old so we didn’t expect any issues. We had an issue - with birds. The whole system, including the intake pipe and furnace parts were full of nest and bird remains. A mess. Julius did a fantastic job for us. On May 24 &25th I had Border remove an old ****** furnace & AC and install a new series of ****** furnace & AC. Julius arrived bright and early removing the furnace and supervising other personnel.. This was a large job which Julius completed in about 1 1/2 days. I would recommend Julius when anyone is considering heating & AC work

UPDATED REVIEW: Richard and his team were phenomenal. They arrived 10 minutes early at 7:50 to install our air conditioning. They worked quickly and were so quiet my toddler was able to nap through them working in the room below them. The space was tidied up and all of the cables running through the walls to the unit were neatly secured. I appreciated how friendly and personable the staff were, when there are strange men in your house for 7 hours its nice to feel comfortable. Borders quote wasn't the least expensive, but they had the best service and warranty behind their product and were one of the few companies we had quote the job that included the electrician - a must for me because I've tried co-coordinating multiple tradesmen and it was a chore. Highly recommend Border! FIRST REVIEW: Steve went above and beyond. He came out and diagnosed our problem and gave me clear directions on who to call to have the water shut off to our house. He arrived 10 minutes early on the service day and waited patiently while the city (who arrived 30 minutes earlier) took an hour and a half to find our water shut off. Our dog was sick and had an accident in the area Steve was working, and he unknowingly set his toolbox in poop. He was able to laugh it off and was so understanding while I was beyond embarrassed. Altogether he spent 15 minutes working and fixed our problem. Will be calling next time he's needed and hopefully he will come back

He fully tested the system and gave us valuable information on the best way to run the A/C to get optimal performance and lifespan. He also showed us a selection of thermostats explaining the pros and cons of each to make the best choice for our needs.

I received my spring air conditioner check-up from Border Plumbing, Heating & Electrical May 15, 2018. The service technician was Dustin Pratch. He came on time introduced himself with a smile on his face and told me why he was at my door. He came in and checked out the filter, electricals and the programming. We then went out to the air conditioner unit. He opened it up and did several tests and explained to me how air conditioners worked. He found out my unit is old, 20 years, and explained that it will need to be replaced in the next couple of years. The cost of upgrading the present unit would be cost prohibitive and might not last very long so he recommended a new unit. He got things back together and the unit going. Before he left he made sure that my programme was set up and working. I thank Dustin for his wonderful work.

Recently had Mathew Radchenko to the house for a hot water tank replacement after first obtaining and estimate. Dustin arrived right on time this morning to service my furnace. He was very thorough, and explained everything that he had checked once he was finished. I would certainly recommend him to anyone needing a Service Technician.

On a cold winter day, a Sunday, no less,, our furnace stopped working and I put in an emergency call to Borders, who we had used in a previous home. The office called back within a few minutes and said Justin their on-call technician was on a call, but would call us as soon as he'd finished. 90 minutes later Justin called, and within 15 minutes was checking out the furnace. He tried a number of tests only to determine that a wire in the fan motor had shorted out and we would need to replace the motor. He searched on line for a local supplier who might have the motor in stock, but was unable to find one, so he would get a loaner electric fire if we needed one, but having one of our own, we didn't need to take him up on that. Next day, though we were then out of town overnight, he returned to the house with the new motor and accessed via a code we'd given him. We returned next day to find everything working well, and a comfortable house. Justin was so polite and helpful, and I can't speak more highly of him, and of the service he provided. Given he came out twice, once on a Sunday, the price charged by Border was most reasonable.

We had a leaking water tank and I call Border at about 7:30 AM and by 5:00PM we had a new tank and hot water!! Matt came and gave us a firm quote and then got to work. The working area was quite tight and Matt had to remove some items in the mechanical room just to get the 20" he needed for removal and replacement. Matt was cheerful and polite throughout the work and this was his third tank of the day. As the job was being tested he found a leak on a faulty vacuum valve and went about replacing it, no muss no fuss. Water tanks are certainly not cheap but with the work Matt did I feel we got good value for our money - thank you Matt

Matt attended our residence to repair numerous small items. Prior to his arrival he was tied up in a traffic back up and detour. He advised us immediately, we appreciated this. My wife and I are new to Kelowna since August/17 when we moved here from Langley BC. We live in south east Kelowna in a mobile home park where we purchased our home.
